Litigation Practice Profile

KRASOW, GARLICK & HADLEY, LLC has a diverse civil litigation practice which involves all phases of trial and appellate practice. We represent business entities and individuals in all state and federal courts in Connecticut, and in arbitration and administrative proceedings.

We represent clients in litigation matters involving contract disputes, insurance issues, construction disputes, real estate and title issues, tax and zoning appeals, corporate and commercial matters, environmental issues, employment relations, foreclosures (both commercial and residential), workouts, bankruptcies, personal injury, and estate and will disputes. We also have an extensive appellate practice and all of our litigation attorneys are experienced in writing briefs as well as presenting oral arguments before the appellate courts.

Our attorneys, together with legal assistant support, are involved in litigation work on a regular basis. Our familiarity with contract law, real estate law, environmental law, business law, and bankruptcy law has enabled us to effectively represent diverse parties in all phases of litigation.

We have been involved in matters as diverse as the following:

• Obtaining a defendant's verdict in the defense of a multi-million dollar lender liability action against a Connecticut lender in a Federal Court jury trial.

• Successfully representing a defendant in a multi-million dollar personal property fraudulent conveyance claim in Bankruptcy Court (which was withdrawn by the Bankruptcy Trustee after we deposed the Trustee's expert witness).

• Successfully representing in Federal Court a law firm (from another state) that was alleged to have participated in numerous securities violations.

• Representing interests of owners and mortgagees in Indian land claims litigation.

• Representing a defendant, who owned a parcel of land on which a gasoline station was located, in a jury trial involving a claimed environmental pollution of an adjoining landowner's property.

• Representing the owner of a restaurant and motel in a claim that adjoining gasoline station properties polluted our client's property.

We have also been successful in managing large case volumes for our litigation clients.

We take pride in our ability to represent our litigation clients to the utmost while keeping in mind their financial, business, and personal concerns. Our goal is to aggressively represent our clients while trying to resolve the matter in the most expeditious and cost effective manner. In the interest of controlling litigation costs, we consult with our clients before undertaking any major step in the litigation process.

In order to foster an increased understanding of the litigation process, and to improve our clients' abilities to effectively utilize our litigation services, we provide clients with "in-house" seminars on timely litigation matters, including areas such as employment issues and environmental issues. These seminars also provide our clients with guidelines for avoiding claims that could be the basis for future litigation.
